![]() This could be due to insufficient system requirements, using an outdated version of Cinema 4D, or even if you’re using an unsupported graphics card. If unresolved by the specialists, a Bug Report would be created.Cinema 4D has been known to crash occasionally. These specialists have additional, deeper expertise in different areas of Mac hardware and MacOS on specific models of Macs, but are far less patient, and are not willing to chase third-party software issues. If you appeared to have a complex hardware-related or deep MacOS problem (which these symptoms do NOT appear to support) there is a second tier of experts that can be brought in. In general, if the issue is isolated to one third-party software package, they will refer you to the maker of that package, and tell you third-party software makers are responsible for making their Apps compatible with the Mac, and not the reverse. The first responders will work through some scripts that have been develeoped for this sort of problem solving. The usual method for involving Apple is to contact Apple support. "works in safe mode, fails in regular mode" implies "it's something you added". The BIG 'litmus test" is restarting is Safe Mode, where no third-party add-ons are loaded. ![]() Everything ran smoothly from the beginning, so this doesn't seem to be the cause of it.Īny other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! When I first got the Mac mini I upgraded the RAM to 32GB (from 8GB). Regardless of whether the eGPU is plugged in or not I still get the choppyness. It might seem like a minor complaint but it's incredibly frustrating just doing basic computing tasks with everything being so choppy.ġ) Downgrading to Mojave from time machine backup (no success), upgrading back to Catalina (no success).ĭuring that period I did use an eGPU (Razer Core X + Vega 56 graphics card) which may have contributed to the problem, although I've been using it with my MacBook Pro 2016 for about 12 months with no issues at all. Scrolling webpages suffers from the same issue. The computer is still usable, and applications don't seem to take any longer than usual to open up (I can even edit HD video within Final Cut Pro X without any major issues) but the cursor is noticeably jagged, and maximising / minimising apps is a very jagged also. Mouse cursor and animations choppy in MacOS Hi community,Ī couple of months ago I purchased a 2018 Mac mini (Core i7 3.2GHz, 32GB RAM) which came with Catalina (and latest updates) pre-installed.Ī couple of weeks ago I started running into a problem with the mouse cursor and animations within MacOS, it's like the frame rate of the whole machine just halved overnight. It would be greatly appreciated if someone would have a solution (and if I must update to Mojave, I'll talk to my dad) Someone else also said to update the firmware to 138.0.0.0, but I'm on 144.0.0.0.0 and I still have the issue (or can I only access that firmware in Mojave?) I never saw the flickering when he played Minecraft on Mojave. I could update to Mojave, but my dad (who was the previous owner and is the tech guy in my family) said that he had a lot of problems and glitches on there. The difference was that they said that if you restart or put in the original graphics card and restart it should fix it, but it doesn't for me). ![]() Also, when I use Parallels and play games on Windows, the issue is gone (it was the same case for someone else who had the problem. My problem is that whenever I open OBS or a game (like Minecraft), the screen (even if the game is in windowed) will flicker every few seconds, making it really difficult to play. It's currently on High Sierra (I'm not sure about the exact version, but if anyone wants to know I can look). Nonetheless our developers are trying to resolve these issues on the Cinema 4D and Redshift side, and hopefully they should be resolved as updates and releases for those products come out."įlickering screen/artifacts on 2009 Mac Pro I have an Early 2009 Mac Pro (with the firmware flashed to 5,1) with an rx 560 graphics card. This is most likely due to the fact that these devices are new and, we suspect, still have some bugs that need to be addressed by Apple, hopefully through firmware, rather than hardware, upgrades. "There are many known issues with M1 Ultra and M1 Max devices which are unfortunately difficult to troubleshoot because they are not always repeatable even on devices with identical configurations. It can also be that Apple broke things in an update, as you can see Maxon seems to think so. And BTW this is a new thing, I ran c4d a few months ago on this mac and everything was working fine. It also makes no sense to me that everything magically goes back to normal as soon as I quit cinema 4d. I think your Mac is fine, if you open octane X and render there everything runs fine.
